Growing up in a rural Indiana town, I didn’t get much exposure to the sport of cycling. My childhood consisted of shooting free throws with aspirations of playing for the beloved Indiana Hoosiers! In high school I bought a mountain bike. In college I was introduced to mountain bike racing. I represented my college in the NORBA Collegiate Series throughout my college career. Once arriving in Jackson during the winter of ‘04-’05 I met several endurance mountain bike racers and they talked me into racing the Leadville 100. Since then I have completed several 100 mile races and 24 Hour solo events. The sport of cycling has made me who I am today. I learn things when I’m dozens of hours into a race. I learned how to deal with the hard times life throws at you and how to always see the bright side no matter how bad something may feel. I’m excited to have the oppurtunity to work with high school kids and fire them up about mountain biking. Hopefully, through The Riders program, I can introduce someone else into the sport of endurance mountain bike racing.
